With less than 2 weeks before the July 31st trade deadline, many teams are starting to look for a final piece of the puzzle for a playoff push. Here are some of the players that should be available...
VERY LIKELY:
George Sherrill RP BAL- Sherrill was traded to the Orioles in the now one-sided deal with the Mariners along with elite prospect Adam Jones. Jones has steadily improved throughout the season and Sherrill is near the top of the MLB in saves. The Orioles could trade Sherrill for more prospects to build for the future. With centerpieces already in place (Markakis and Jones), the Orioles could contend in a couple of years. Sherrill is arbitration-eligible after this season.
Possible suitors: Cubs, Red Sox, Yankees, Diamondbacks
A.J. Burnett SP TOR-
Brian Roberts 2B BAL- He's in the same boat as Sherrill, with no chance of playing for a winning team in Baltimore. He is a switch hitter an ideal lead-off man for a contending team. He could hit for average, steal bases, and a decent defender at second base. He has a limited no trade clause, so he could go to a select few teams.
Possible suitors: Twins, Mets, Dodgers
